bugger :( our rsl doesnt do the chair covers so we have to go with an event hire place. works out cheaper if we DYI but its not worth the stress and heartache to DYI and we will just pay to get them put on. sorry to hear that Belinda about your brother :( i hope he makes a speedy recovery. xo

We are looking at Overnewton Castle at the moment, The reception has offered to meet with us and the caterer to try and work something out, to be quite honest I want the old menu! It was a big part of our decision to choose plenty ranges. Unfortunately my brother is in hospital (we nearly lost him) and everything is on hold for us at the moment, not to mention my sisters wedding is next week!!! so sorting it out in the next week or 2 is out of the question! ARGH STRESS!!!

hi girls, were also at an RSL and having a roast dinner buffet, or we could have had a bbq buffet, our chair covers are $4 per chair, or had we gone the most expensive package which was 70 a head it was included.........i changed some of our menu as my family are plain janes lol FH family have all the weird food, so i went plain that way every1 still eats a good meal.....esp since theyre paying 4 it themselves (instead of a gift) i love RSL's they are fairly well priced and look stunning

kate_turner2000 wrote
on May 7, 2009, 5:35 pm
they are definitely the most expensive item thus far belinda. thats not good about your reception :/ i have been to a wedding with fancy foods like that and it hardly got eaten by anyone and we had to do a maccas visit on the way home to have a feed lol. our reception is at an RSL club so we are having a roast LOL. have you got another place in mind for the reception?

Belinda wrote
on May 6, 2009, 2:22 pm
lol Kate! Im sure it was hehe. Wedding chair covers are the most ridiculously priced item out there I think! Thankfully ours are included in our p/h price at the reception! Although I have just recieved and email informing me that the menu has changed...after checking it out, we are seriously considering changing venues (we will get our deposit back as its more that 120 days before the date) The new menu is pretty awful... the caterers are obviously trying to go upmarket with dishes like goats cheese salad with honey, rare veal, blue cheese soup..Its disguting, neither FH, me or any of our guests are going to eat off a menu like that! Im really angry about it TBH. But Ive got a lot going on at the moment so tackling the issue is going to have to wait a week or 2.

Most of the crinkles came right out and the dresses are looking great, I just gently pulled the stubborn ones out with my hands while it was still humid. My dress is almost ready..I think thats the Celine Bella is referring to, I got the email yesterday... Im beyond excited! I called my sisters, bridesmaids and my mum to tell them LOL

Hi Guys It's been insanely busy here! Elbow deep in fabulous gowns. I did have a chance to update the testimonial and measurements page of www.catchthebouquet.com.au though - I think the new measurements page with pics should be especially helpful. Check out the new 'Allure' gown on the home page - one of my favourite new gowns so far. Better go, I have a 'Celine' that is 99% finished and just waiting for me to finish her beading while watching So You Think You Can Dance! :) Love to you all!

LOL Kornstar... Im the queen of trackies and hoodies! Ive spoken to Bella...and you are right, the loops under our dresses are for our wrists! She doesnt do the bustle as its too tricky to get the length right without you being there. But its all good... the wrist loop is so pretty to dance. Ive never thought about getting the dress pressed before wearing it.. but I like the hot shower idea! Ive got my sisters flowergirl dresses here and I crinkled them a little during transit (lol) and was wondering how I was going to get them out before the wedding next month.. Im going to do that today... before she bashes me LOL

at the end of my train ... yea, i have one then lol ... i thought it was to hang off my wrist or something like that ... im very un-educated when it comes to dresses ... im not a girly girl ... i dress in trackpants and hoddies most of the time LOL ... so the whole dress experience is new to me hahaha

Belinda wrote
on Apr 7, 2009, 11:07 pm
Ok so there is a bit of confusion here! A bustle is basically a loop inside the dress that hooks onto a button to keep the dress/train off the floor... helps when youre at the reception! Ive spoken to a few dressmakers who have all recommended it, as did the people at ferrari formal wear.

kornstar wrote

anxious_bride wrote
on Apr 7, 2009, 5:46 pm

kate_turner2000 wrote
on Apr 7, 2009, 4:53 pm
its a type of framework at goes at the back of the dress to give it a 'big bum' type puffyness. it was mainly used in the old days because they wore a crinoline petticoat all day every day they lost their shape pretty quickly so the bustle helped to keep that big bit at the back.

kornstar wrote
on Apr 7, 2009, 4:03 pm
LOL ... im sorry if this seems like a stupid question ... but ........ what the (insert an appropriate word here) is a bustle ?

Belinda wrote

she is more than i imagined she would be, she fits perfectly, has more beading than you can see in the pic on here (for those of you that may not know, i bought the 'alyce' gown) and my veil is freakin perfect ! (margot veil)... at first i thought she was a little long ... but then i put my shoes on and all was good LOL ... all the excitement made me forget i guess hahaha ... i didnt want to take her off when i tried her on ... but i left her on for a little while ... i decided to take her off after about 1/2 hour ... i had just packed her away, and got in the car to take her to my FH mothers house ... 15 minutes after i left ... FH came home from work ... lucky lucky lucky HAHAHA

anxious_bride wrote

lol well guess who got their dress??? mmmmmmmmmmmmme lol. She is slightly different to how i pictured her being but i still love her to bits, fits perfectly but was too long and came with a massive train so i sent her back to bella just to get fixed up and bella was gr8 about it. because im getting married in a garden a train isn't good it will end up black...... but bella said she'll rectify so all sweet. she has embroidry and beading although i only wanted beading but itsgrowing on me and now i cant wait. my MOH has done her up on me twice now and both times i refused to take her off lol.......Sally how is ur gorgeous gown, i know you said it fits but was she everything you imagined her to be??

catchthebouquet wrote
on Mar 6, 2009, 2:53 pm
Hi Belinda, it's Bella. The Courtney is made from the same heavy bridal satin as Celine. It's a gorgeous gentle sheen satin (not a super glossy one). And yes, a lace-back gives you about 2 sizes variation (obviously we recommend ordering it to your current measurements to make sure it fits in the first place!). If you do still want a zip, it is definitely easier (and far cheaper) to have a seamstress take in a wedding gown than try to let it out. Letting out a gown essentially means taking it completely apart and remaking it and seamstresses charge accordingly! Have a great weekend!

Belinda wrote
on Mar 6, 2009, 12:17 pm
Thanks girls! Thats a good idea Kate, I love the lace up back and couldnt decide on that or the zip, Which dress did you get anxious_bride? Would anyone know what fabric the Courtney is?

hi nadstar, i got quoted $125 for each bouquet of roses and i would have to pick them up wedding morning and some how give the boys their buttonholes 2.......so i went fake and they are stunning, i paid $33.50 for them each and only $3.50 per buttonhole which was fantastic, i paid $156 insead of the $600 quoted for real flowers. i can email you pics of mine if you would like to see some fake flowers and my florist that did them is a lovely lady so i can give you her email if you do decide that way. My wedding has been moved from august to May now so we have just put my flowers aside so my fiance can take the buttonholes with him the night b4...... In my opinion i think fake are the way too go, but get silk flowers because they don't look fake, as i said i have pics if you want to see some fake flowers done....

anxious_bride wrote
on Mar 5, 2009, 11:05 pm
hi belinda, i was due to get married in august and ordered in december as i was too impatient lol and i have just had my baby......so bella said get a lace up back as that gives approx 2 sizes bigger and 2 sizes smaller which is good cos i havent lost any baby weight. its worth looking into :)

kate_turner2000 wrote
on Mar 5, 2009, 5:10 pm
hey belinda :) im sure that Bella could probably offer you some advice about weight gain or losses and fitting in your gown either way. from what ive read elsewhere its always easier to take a dress in then to let it out.

Belinda wrote

Could take it to mums... but she will show everyone (proud Italian Mama there!) My main issue is weight as Im scared Ill gain or lose..

im researching this at the moment too nadstar, i have found theyre roughly the same price for either but at least the artificial last forever, and we are on a budget so its something we can buy in advance and put away for the wedding, and not have people run around on the day to get them. also fiance can have his buttonhole to take away with him the night before the wedding so he has it for the day.

Hay there wondering if is better to get fake flowers rather than the real ones? What thoughts do people have on this

same with anxious bride we are paying for our guests meals but we have decided to scrap the bar tab and people can buy their own drinks. this is saving us $1000+. we also have 4 guests with SLR cameras so theyre doing our photography for us so we save there. we arent having a dj at all, just making a mixed cd of songs we want to play and having that on in the background of the reception. we also ensured our celebrant had all the proper gear so she will do the music at the ceremony too which helps. i went to the markets to buy my decorations for the reception- bunches of willow wood and plum blossoms for really cheap. not having chair covers we have skipped them, they look nice but us and our guests arent going to have an EVEN BETTER TIME at the wedding if there are chair covers lol.

oh and sammi, i just had a baby girl so our budget was not very big, we actually asked our guests if they wouldnt mind paying for their meals instead of giving a gift and they all loved it and thought it was a excellent idea (saves them having to look for a gift as they put it) there are many options to having a beautiful wedding on a shoe string budget and there are many other stores just like bellas you just need to know where to look :)

Hi sammy, i also am big on ebay, my tiara was only $10 (seen the exact same one in a bridal shop for $79.95) My shoes were $30 from spend less shoes, I also made my own invites, lincraft (not sure if you have 1) or a spotlight store sell a large range of cards, cardboard papers, decorative scissors and lots of beautiful things for your invites, My friend is a hairdresser, she quoted $35 per person for our hair and $50 for our make-up, it depends where you live i guess as to what is available in your area, i got 3 bouquets (silk roses) off ebay for only $30 each and 3 buttonholes for $3.50 each i can give you her details if you are interested, and Sally.......... are you excited now hehe i know yours is still a bit off but mine is creeping in quickly, 3 months and 4 days and counting....

hi sammi ... im big on ebay at the moment ... got all of my flowers (mine and 3 flowergirls) from ebay ... $75 ... shoes RRP $90 ... Ebay, $15 gosh, i even won my tiara for 3 lousy dollars LOL im making my bridesmaids do their own hair ... i know a make up artist, so he is doing all of our make up for $100 ... his grandma is paying for the church and everything involved for the ceremony (decorations and all of that sorta stuff ... and she is getting us the choir and all) so yea, like kate said ... if you know them, 'use' them ... you would be surprised at how willing some family members are to help out

hey sammi :) i am a keen scrapbooker so i am making my own invites, we shopped around at different venues to get the cheapest reception. flowers are artificial so that i could get them prior to the wedding and store them away for the big day. fiance is buying a cheap suit as it works out cheaper than hiring a suit. all i can suggest is to shop around and negotiate prices, try and 'use' family or friends who have links to the wedding industry to get things cheaper- i.e. hair dressers etc

Hi all. I am trying to do my wedding on a budget so it's absolutely fantastic I came across this site about 6 months ago. I was interested in knowing everybody else's budgets for their weddings? And where you are finding other things cheap, such as flowers, invites, etc?

sounds good sassy! i already have my veil and its ivory so i will be getting an ivory gown. i cant justify spending huge amounts on a dress i will only be wearing one day out of my life, but these dressed look like designer made gowns for a fraction of the cost.

Forgot to say, mine will need an alteration. I measured the length wrong so mine is about 5cm too long. I could wear mega heels but since I want to wear flats I'm going to have the front taken up. Only costs about $50 to have doen so the dress is still a total bargain! It's hilarious that my H2B is paying more for his suit than I've paid for my dress!

Hi, I bought the Celine in December (on Christmas eve!) and just got it a week or so ago. I got the 'Celine' in pale champagne and it is PERFECT! It's a georgeous dress and the quality is easily as high as all of the bridal shop ones I looked at. Fits perfectly too. Honestly looks like a $2000 dress. The pale champagne is darker than ivory, but not a dark colour. Like a really pale sand. I'm so excited - just got to get the silly bridesmaids organised now and wait for the big day!

mine is august 22nd and i 2 stumbled across bellas shop by accident. i was searching google for "princess style wedding gowns" and up came catch the bouquet as a link..... i found my 2 styles of dress off ebay and decided she was the best person to do it. I couldn't believe the quote bella gave me because all those style dresses were about $1600+ in all the bridal stores. i almost fell over when i was quoted only $300 lol weddings are hectic if it wasn't for bella or ebay id be broke by now.... i even found flowers on ebay. they are silk(fake) roses and look so real.... its costing me $186 for 4 bouquets and 4 button holes and i was quoted $560 in store, its amazing how cheap you can pick up some things

Hi Sassy I'm Bella (owner of the store). Pale champagne is just a bit darker than ivory and is more of a gold tone. Not dark at all, just a bit richer in colour than ivory. If you'd like a colour swatch just email me from the Contact Us page and I can arrange that for you. Thankyou!

Sassy wrote

Oh, and has anyone ordered in the pale champagne colour? How dark is it? My local bridal shop has some 'latte' coloured dresses but they look too brown to me.
